Heroes Among Us - Comic Book - Senior Show (Fall 2024): SPECTRA

Heroes. The heroes we encounter in our everyday lives are the people who make us better, safer, stronger, and more secure. They are the first responders, law enforcers, educators, health care workers, parents/guardians, mentors, and volunteers we encounter every day. In our world, they are our superheroes.
I accumulated stock images of everyday heroes. I used Adobe Illustrator to vectorize the images and create the panels and pages. I moved to MS Paint 3D to add the line work to simulate comic book illustrations. Then I finalized the layout and added the text in Adobe InDesign. I printed and assembled a large display copy and over 80 small comic books for viewers to collect.

Superheroes were given their start and nobility in the comic book setting. That and my life-long interest in comic books are the driving forces for this project. I have always been intrigued by the idea of heroes who help others. I feel that I have been blessed with people in my life who I consider heroes, and I wish to give them superhero treatment. In the end, this comic book with variant covers is my homage to all of the heroes within all our lives, and I hoped that it would have a positive and lasting impact on the people who saw it.
